QuickTime Windows Media YouTubeOn August 29,2005, Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast and was one of the deadliest hurricanes in the history of the United States. The most devastating outcome of the hurricane occurred in New Orleans, Louisiana where there was severe loss of life and loss of property. In our first domestic project, SOW members and alumni from the University of Michigan, The University of Texas at Austin, and New York University worked with the Broadmoor Improvement Association in New Orleans to document efforts to rebuild their neighborhood. Through close interactions with neighbors and community leaders, the SOW team was able to witness their determination and struggle as they continue to rebuild their lives better than before.
