With a relatively new government still
in transition and an estimated 2.4 million people who
are HIV positive,
Kenya faces many challenges in the face of AIDS. Antiretroviral
drugs (ARVs) are the mainstay treatment for people
with HIV/AIDS; despite the recent collaboration and
efforts to provide ARVs for all those in need of them
in Kenya, barriers continue to exist. Primarily of
concern are those living in rural areas with no transportation,
nor ability to afford the ARV treatment, or even the
access to basic needs such as food, which therefore
make the access to free ARVs ineffective. KAIPPG is
dedicated to preventing and ameliorating HIV/AIDS
in Kenya. Village Volunteers partners
with rural villages to build sustainable solutions
for development.
