We endeavor to tell the true stories of underrepresented peoples through documentary films produced by sincere, ethical filmmakers. We are further devoted to inspiring an active approach toward global understanding.

Our first feature-length film, The Children’s War, is currently in post-production.

Our History  

SOW began as a student organization at Duke University in the fall of 1999, and subsequent SOW chapters were started by students at The University of Texas and The University of Michigan in 2001. SOW is now a national 501(c)3 nonprofit that is dedicated to leading the movement nationwide. In 2005, SOW welcomed expansion to Columbia University, Brown University and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and is actively involved with expanding SOW partner universities. In the past five years SOW has sent teams to: Russia, India, Peru, Uganda, Mexico, Guatemala, South Africa and Swaziland, China, Cambodia, Kenya and Cuba.
