Development + Recovery, Environment

The Make It Right Foundation (MIR) builds safe, sustainable, and affordable homes in the Lower 9th Ward, placing a focus on design, preservation of the community’s spirit, and project efficiency so residents can return to their homes as soon as possible. SOW partnered with MIR in 2010 to produce videos and photography that would feature:

  • All aspects of the MIR project, including recruitment, homeownership, and construction
  • Meaningful interactions with residents
  • Eco-friendly design elements
  • Reflection on the 5th Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina

SOW produced four videos and a comprehensive photography portfolio for MIR. Videos screened at 6th Annual Clinton Global Initiative Conference, fundraising events surrounding the 5th Anniversary of Katrina, and a fundraising Groupon which reached 7 million people and raised more than $30,000.
