Projects

We bring the world into focus.

As Students of the World, we view life as a path of discovery—self-determined, often risky, sometimes lonely, but always worth the journey.  It forces you to see the world the way it is, but also as it should be.

That’s our lens.  This is our reel—snapshots from 15 years of global creative engagement.

Here are just a few of the short but powerful films we have produced over the last decade and a half.

16th STREET HYUNDAI

Every production is a collaborative and creative process. This short film takes you behind the scenes of the SOW production, "16th Street" to see the journey of this process coming to life.

RAISING ISLAM

This original video tells the story of Islam, an 8-year-old boy from the West Bank, and his struggle to cope with trauma through the innovative early childhood program at Tomorrow’s Youth Organization (TYO).

EMERGING VOICES - HARVESTING HOPE

“Harvesting Hope,” highlights the story of a 16 year old farmworker who dreams of inspiring his community through art. This film was produced in partnership with Pivot TV as part of the Emerging Voices Program, an initiative to support filmmakers from diverse backgrounds.

EXPLORE: HELP NATURE HELP US ALL

The Nature Conservancy commissioned SOW to document how nature is a critical tool for responding to and protecting people from climate change impacts. The film featured here (one of six produced) is set in Ventura Texas where the Nature Conservancy is working to restore the floodplain along the Santa Clara River.

AUTHENTICALLY ORGANIC

Stonyfield and pivot commissioned Students of the World to create a branded documentary-style commercial to be aired on pivot TV. Produced by UC Berkeley filmmakers, the Stonyfield film highlights the brand’s commitment to providing the healthiest, organic products.
