QuickTime Windows Media YouTubeIn June 2007, the Columbia SOW team traveled to Tanzania, where they studied two Africare projects. In Dodoma, they were hosted by the Community-Based Orphan Care, Protection and Empowerment (COPE) project, which seeks to increase local communities' ability to provide support and care for vulnerable children. From Dodoma, the group traveled to Kilimanjaro, to study the environmental problems plaguing the area and learn about Africare's Kilimanjaro Landscape Conservation Partnership (KLCPP), which aims to preserve both the communities of Kilimanjaro and the region's natural attributes. In addition to the work shown at the Clinton Global Initiative annual meeting, the Columbia team will have a photo exhibit of their work with Africare and is creating a short documentary on the Kilimamjaro Project.
