While Uganda has been praised for their
reduction the rate of infection of HIV/AIDS, Uganda
has the highest orphan rate in the world. In Uganda
hides another story – the twenty-year-old war
in Northern Uganda, where thousands of children have
been abducted to serve in the LRA rebel army. It is
the “most neglected humanitarian crisis in the
world,” according to the United Nations Head
of Humanitarian Affairs. The Uganda Charity
Children’s Foundation (UCCF), operates
two orphanages in southern Uganda. World Vision runs
the Gulu Children of War Center. A
grassroots organization, Charity For Peace
Foundation, helps the children affected by
the war.
